Hi, my name is Windy Wood and I am so happy to be teaching here at Melrose Elementary!  This is my fourth year teaching and my first year at Melrose.  Previously I taught at Moseley Elementary in Palatka.  I am excited to be able to teach where I attended elementary school.

I was born in Jacksonville Beach and moved around a little bit, but was lucky enough to end up in this area.  I attended Melrose for my fourth and fifth grade year.  I loved going to school here and love teaching here even more.  I enjoyed playing MYSA soccer, softball, and basketball before moving on to play softball and basketball in high school.

This past summer I visited Kauai in the island chain of Hawaii.  Wow!  It was so beautiful.  The pace of everyday life was slower there.  I camped out and woke up daily to another outdoor adventure.  Swimming in icy cold caves, hiking on mountain trails overlooking the ocean, and kayaking to a waterfall were several of the things I enjoyed doing.  The fresh mangoes, bananas, and pineapple were delicious. 

I have such a sweet group of kids this year who all get along superbly.  The first nine weeks has flown by with lots of learning and growing.  We’ve got so much more to do!
